Youth Festival 2023: You can make a difference!

World Youth Day 2023 | from 1 to 6 August – All together to Lisbon!

About WYD

World Youth Day (WYD) is a worldwide encounter with the Pope celebrated about every three years in a different country. The most recent WYD was celebrated in Panama City, Panamá from January 22-27, 2019 and the next World Youth Day will be held in Lisbon, Portugal in 2023.

WYD is open to all young people who want to take part in a festive encounter centered on Jesus Christ together with their peers. This event is an opportunity to personally experience the universality of the Catholic Church, and to share with the whole world the hope of many young people who are committing their lives to Christ and His Church. World Youth Day is a unique way to deepen your faith and grow closer to Christ, through prayer and the sacraments, together with hundreds of thousands of other young people who share your interests and ambitions.

The Church is listening

[…]

In the process of listening and discernment, there is a great need, transversal and present in
different ways in everyone, both in the digital missionaries and in their communities, the need to
be accompanied is tangibly present.
To respond to this need, the proposal is that the Church has an organic, systematic and
institutional DIGITAL PASTORAL ACTIVITY.
This requires the promotion and development in the Church of a recognized and organic
pastoral activity to animate and coordinate the already-existing life of multiple evangelizing actions
in the digital space. We understand that, like all pastoral care, it needs the development of a
theological reflection and a juridical framework in Canon Law.

How can it be done?

[…]

“Today, as in the beginning,
we need to go out to meet each person,
as it is our mission to do so,
especially with those most separated and those who are
suffering most.
We must meet
the existential peripheries of our world.
You know from your everyday life
that many are alone,
that many do not know Jesus.
Go and take the world with you.
Go and fill your surroundings, even the digital ones…
… to bear witness of the tenderness and mercy of Jesus.”

Holy Father Francis
